As women came to IPI asking for help with food and medical costs, Dr. Karambu Ringera posed the question:  “What can you do to help yourselves?” thus impelling the women to take charge and responsibility for their own destinies.  The women of the community identified their skill in jewelry-making as the answer and marked their commitment to taking charge of their lives by creating "Beads 4 Peace".  Their unique jewelry is now sold in our BOLD Store “Bettering Our Lives by Design”.
